Small Claims Court
London · Southwestern Ontario · Niagara
Ontario's Small Claims Court hears civil claims for money or the return of property up to $50,000. It is designed to be faster and less formal than the Superior Court, and a licensed paralegal can represent you at every stage — from the demand letter through the settlement conference, trial, and enforcement of the judgment.
My preference is plaintiff-side work: helping people and small businesses recover what they are owed. I also defend claims, and I handle defendant's claims and counterclaims where they arise.
Typical plaintiff matters
- Unpaid invoices and accounts
- Breach of contract and services not delivered
- Personal loans and money owed
- Unreturned deposits
- Property damage
- Return of goods or property
How I help
- Assessing whether the claim is worth pursuing — and collectable
- Demand letters that get taken seriously
- Drafting the Plaintiff's Claim or Defence and evidence brief
- Settlement conference and trial representation
- Default judgment and enforcement (garnishment, examination of debtor)
- Limited scope: draft your documents, coach you for the hearing
